The North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NCAT) chapter was established in 2026 by Christie (CJ) Knowles. This chapter proposes a human-centered, equity-driven model that expands the Helping Hand Project’s impact beyond fabrication to address rehabilitation outcomes, psychosocial well-being, sustainability, and healthcare access. The goal is to function as a systems-level partner, strengthening long-term device usability, dignity, and access. We want to ensure that prosthetic devices are not only engineered effectively, but used successfully, supported holistically, delivered equitably, and sustained responsibly.
