Established in 2014 by Jeff Powell, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH) chapter was the first Helping Hand Project chapter. The goal of this chapter is to both improve support and outreach in the limb difference community as well as complete devices and teach design principles. Recently, UNC-CH's support team hosted the 6th annual HHP conference with guest speaker Ashley Thomas, the founder and CEO of Bridge II Sports which makes opportunities for individuals with disabilities to play adapted sports. Their design team also returned to full operation after COVID and completed the first case at UNC in over 3 years.
